I bought a bread maker at the carboot sale a few weeks ago for the measley price of a fiver and was over the bloomin' moon. It had no instructions with it and I had no idea if it would switch on when I got it home but netherless I handed over my money and made the boy carry it back to the car. It does switch on and I have had some minor success with it as I have made white, cheesy and brown bread with no real problems. HOWEVER I wanted to share my wares this morning and craving home made bread with honey and peanut butter (seriously, try it!) I filled up my baby bread maker and let it do its stuff. TWICE! Both times, I've ended up with paving slabs. So no lovely bread to show today :( Be back tomorrow with something else (I hope). x

I don't know about wherever you guys are but over the last weekend Mr. sunshine has certainly had his hat on. Me and the boy decided to make the most of it and went driving in the countryside, unfortunately I didn't think to pick up my sun glasses before setting off and ended up squinting all day. It got me thinking though that perhaps the time has come to invest in some half decent sunnies to try and protect my peepers. As you can see from this photo taken of me last summer I usually settle on £1-2 throwaways from Primark.

I like em big!!

Firstly, I noticed that the lovely Amelia is giving away some polaroid sunnies over at her blog HERE but just in case I don't win (ha!) I went and checked the polaroid site and among their heritage collection I found these 1970's beauts! They are not that different from mine but these 100% UV400 protection which ticks that box and at £69 I don't think they're badly priced. Also I feel that wearing these I could channel Farrah Fawcett with a little bit of vintage Deirdre Barlow (from Corrie) for good measure. Over on asos I went on a sunglass search frenzy but couldn't find ANYTHING that I could see me wearing on a daily basis (wishful thinking on part of the weather there). I was about to give up when I spied these by Marc Jacobs.. These have me thinking half secretary, half superman and I LOVE them. I think they're ever so classic and don't look much like sunglasses at all but I'm a bit unsure about black frames as they may look harsh on my face. Also, they're £245 and I know I said I needed to 'invest' but that's way out of my budget.

So the search continues. I have seen a few pairs at Topshop but I don't know how protected my eyes would be, I mean what is the difference between 'fashion' and 'non fashion' sunnies? Does anyone actually know? And can anyone point me in the direction of any decent sunglass suppliers?

It's so easy just to go raid the rack at primark.

I Don't Know Why You Say Goodbye, I Say Hello

Hi...

It's good to be back and as I said yesterday, I intend to focus some of my now free time on this blog as I have neglected it of late.

For those of you who don't know, I've just been diagnosed with a long term illness and it's thrown my life upside down but I have been on treatment for nearly a month now and so far so good, I feel stronger and more like me everyday.

I don't want to dwell on it but wanted to get it out there and explain a little. Also, because it's such a massive thing in my life it's making me see things so differently and inspiring me in oh so many ways. I don't want to sound dramatic but it really is true what they say, when a big change happens you really do open your eyes to what is going on around you. I have decided that life is certainly too short to be miserable and although I am off work for the foreseeable future and have had to defer my final year of uni, it does mean that I can channel my time and energy into other things like this blog and finding enjoyment in whatever I can.

So here I am, saying hello again and extending a handshake or hug to everyone out there and hoping that I can fill this little space of my own with lots of wonders that will make some one else smile. That's my aim anyway.

And what better way to start than putting a face to the name huh?

These are not outfit shots as such but merely a couple of snaps of the ever changing me.

This is a recent pic, taken a couple of weeks ago for my birthday. Thats me on the right wearing a white lace peter pan collar dress from Pilot of all place and that lip shaped bag cost me 30p from a carboot sale last summer. The girl with me is one of my closest friends and has been an absolute rock of late.

Long, red hair and a long time before I got sick. That purple thing is my leg (I dont know how I managed that) and I' dressed in Primark Cardi and a lovely grecian style jersey dress that was from the New Look kids section. That neckalce is punkypins and one of my faves.

I will post some more pics from my huge collection another day as well as some up to date outifits shots and a few other bits I want to share... I am still finding my feet again, please bear with me.

I Wish I Had Crafty Fingers

I often see things in the shops and think if only I was a little more crafty I could make that and a few months ago I even went a step further and bought myself some felt and made a little flower brooch but to be honest it was slightly rubbish.

I'm back in the mood where I want to make things, in particular a mini top hat ala mad hatter in preparation for Halloween (I figure it will take me that long to perfect it).

I searched through my bookmarks as I was sure there some websites I'd smuggled away somewhere and woooo I found lots of lovely goodies to have a go at.

Cut Out And Keep is a crafting community with lots of projects, some great step by step tutorials and lots and lots of inspiration. I don't want to steal photos and get into trouble so I am just going to provide links but I am particually taken by this ring made out of a button and zip, this super cute shredded tee and homemade brown sugar body scrub.. yum!

Craftster.org is very similar but seems to be a much bigger community with a comprhensive list of projects and inspirations blocked in to catargories with special ones for recontructed, recycled pieces. I have looked at this site much as yet but one thing I'm definately gonna try is these bracelets from recycled (or bought specifically for) guitar strings.

Things I Need To Buy Post 1.

I have absolutely no money or inspiration to buy anything recently but University is over for another year and my hours are up in my part time job and the summer is fast approaching. I desperately need a wardrobe overhall and have a distinct lack of summer attire.

Therefore I decided to create some online shopping lists if you will, starting with a post on what I consider an essential at this time of year... The Denim Jacket.

I have never owned one, except from when I was a child (well, i was bought up in the 80's, what do you expect?) and it took me such a long time to buy mself a denim shirt that I am unsure if I can even buy into the whole denim thing but I picture pretty summer dresses with this ever so elusive jacket slung over the top and I now want, no need, to purchase one.

Here are some of my shortlisted favourites..

First up is this dark denim number from topshop which is c ropped and comes in at £40. The pros to this, for me at least, is that it comes in petite sizing and I really like the idea of a crop style jacket but with it being Topshop and bang on trend, everyone will be buying this and as I predict that the summer is going to be a sea of denim jackets as it is, I would prefer mine to be slightly different. This one is lovely and I found it one the dorothy perkins web site which is a shop I don't visit very often. I love the military feel of this jacket and again it's cropped but theres no buttons or zips and it's more like a shrug than a jacket. I'm not sure how much of a problem this would be for me but I'm not sure whether I like the idea of not being able to fasten it up. Oh, and the colour, it's a bit of weird shade of denim don't ya think? It is only £32 though.

Desribed as a 'trucker' jacket and also in the petite section, this £45 beauty from Miss Selfridge is probably my favourite so farand definately one I am going to try on. It isn't cropped but I love the heavy pockets on the front on it and the buttons, hem and cuffs remind me of a pair of jeans, sounds odd but I like the fact that denim looks like how I see denim and that's always been as a pair of jeans for me.

Etsy Finds: What I Like To Call Hair Adornments

Ever see something and just think wow?

I do this alot, in fact I think I was a magpie in a previous life and my favourite place to find unique loveliness not available in the shops has to be etsy and today's post (as the title suggests) is all about hair adornments because hair bands just doesn't seem good enough for the wonderfullness I found.

What I found over at Lovmely on Etsy is a collection of crazy beautiful for your head/hair and what's more everything is made using ethically sourced materials whether that be feathers, lace, buttons or vintage whatnots.

I could seriously rave all day but I should let the goods speak for themselves so here are my favourite pieces, I would really like them all so I could hang them round my vintage mirror in the corner of my bedroom.

Lush Product Review Part 2

I don't use a cleanser as such and I know I can hear everyone is blog land tutting at me but from being about 14 years old I have been a massive fan of the body shop glycerine fruit soaps and find that washing with them and smothering on a moisturiser does me ok.

In my box of goodies from Lush (see orginal post here) was a tub of their Angels On Bare Skin and after looking it up online and realising it was in fact a facial cleanser (i thought it was a mask) I thought I would give it a go.

Doesn't look very attractive does it?

The Blurb (Taken From Their Website):

Angelic and medieval cleansing wash with rose and lavender. Angels on Bare Skin is the Lush version of an expensive medieval skincare recipe. Rare, precious essential oils were first brought to Europe by the crusaders who encountered Arabian medicine. They were immediately banned by the church because their ability to alter states of mind was considered the devil's work! But the final result was Cosmetics 1, Church 0. Rose oil and lavender oil were discovered to do wonderful things for the skin, too. Almost a thousand years later you'd be hard pressed to find a better all round cleanser and exfoliator than Angels.

What I Think:

From the second I opened the pot I was hit by the sickliest floral scent ever and it was divine, a yummy mix of rose and lavender that reminded me of the soaps my nana used to keep on her dressing table. I followed the instructions written on the side of the pot and mixed a blob of the stuff in my hand with warm water to create a milk and put this all over my face. The texture was odd, like porridge or something but it wasn't unpleasant and the flecks of lavender really did help to exfoliate. Afterwards my skin felt clean and refreshed and smelled lovely but I was still needing to be convinced that it was better than my soap so I waited until I had a full face of makeup and you know what? It shifted the lot! Very impressed I was and although I am not sure I justify spending £5.50 per 100g on a cleanser that only keeps for 3 days or so in fridge I won't rule it out altogether.

Thumbs up for cleansers then? Anyone recommed anymore I can try?

I should be currently writing an essay on the interrogation of masculine identity in Renaissance literature about now but meh... I decided to do some "research" with reagards to to my last post and the colour that will now be always known as by me as 'dosmestos blue'.

What I have come up with in the little time I have had to look is a few maybes so thought I'd throw them on here and get opinions. In the meantime I'll keep looking..

This is from Tosphop in the petite section which ticks all the boxes as far as fitting me correctly are concerned and I think it's a pretty good colour match. It is also has a bubble hem which is something I have been drawn to lately and I think looks good on me BUT this dress is soooo plain and although I could dress it up with some chunky jewels and killer heels I do feel that all in all this dress lacks ooopfh!

This one (and the rest I will show you) is from ASOS. This is slightly darker in colour but still pretty on track but again fairly plain. I do like the waistband though and the way the skirt hangs, having said that I am looking at this on a model aren't I? Pretty sure, it would look different on teeny tiny me. Hmmmm.

Darker still, I think it looks navy but I love the detailing and the rouching which is brilliant for those who like me don't have much of a chest. I actually watched this one in action on the catwalk as you can on ASOS and that hemline was very 'swishy' which, can only be a good thing for dancing?

This is my favourite so far in searching. The colour is spot on and the ruffles are divine but it looks a beit sheer to me so I'm still unsure as to how practical it would be. I don't want to wear tights unless I really have to. Also I am not sure about the drop waist. Hmmmm, I think I have just talked this dress off my favourite list?

Less Than A Fiver (and some wierd help needed)

Hi there,

Clicking away on ebay today. It's bad! I usually do a random search like just the number 6 (my size) click on ending soonest and go down the list picking and choosing as I go along. This method only works sometimes and i have a bag of horrid purchases destined for a sewing machine or bin as proof.

Anyway, tonight I won this...

At first glance it looks pretty damn cool if you ask me and as the title suggests it was less than a five pound note so here's hoping that when it arrives I love it as much as I do in picture form.

And now for the weird stuff...
I'm looking for a dress or skirt that I can possibly pair with a black vest top for a wedding in June. I know what colour I want but can't find anything suitable. Now I'm not asking you lovelies to go hunting the net for me but if anyone comes across anything remotely, vaguely like what I want please comment or email me. I'd be much appreciative.

I need to post some outfits but seriously, because of uni and work I am in either in my not so nice navy blue polyester work uniform or wrapped in my dressing gown with a desk full of books ahead of me so meh... not very exciting.

I do however, have some nights out planned so hopefully, pictures will follow.

So what to fill this space with in the meantime?

I thought I'd start with a March round up. A kinda what's been making me smile thing. I read them on blog's all the time and i like em' so here goes ....

Coming towards the end of my second year at uni - For those who don't know, I study English at Uni and this year has been hard! I just don't have the passion for reading anymore as being told what to read has kinda killed in for me but I am this year is slowly coming to an end which means dissertation in my final year and it's completely my choice. Maybe I'll get my mojo back?

My Boyfriend - I am in a fairly new realtionship right now. Well, its been about 6 months actually but it still feels new. He's an absolute diamond making me cups of tea when I'm stressed, cooking me lovely meals and forever suprising me with little gifts. It's nice to be happy :)

Disney Couture Jewellery - I realise I am late finding this and probably wouldn't have done if it hadn't been for the release of Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland but I love nearly all the pieces, they're like a little bit of magic. I got a ring from the collection for my birthday but want so much more. Hmmmm, maybe I will post a wish list tomorrow.

Lemon and Ginger Tea - A rather fickle up for me I think but it really is a massive change for me that has happened this month. I'm a converted coffee drinker (i used to drink anywhere up to 20 cups a day and it was making me ill). I discovered Lemon and Ginger Tea by accident and I now love it, I'm sure it's better for me too :)

I recently wrote my very first (genuine) complaint about some bad service recieved and the people at Lush sent me a box full of lovely goodies in terms of compensation.

Since I feel a little bit like a spoilt brat by getting them I thought I would, over the next few weeks try them out and review them on here. That way instead of feeling like I am somehow hoarding freebies I can share the experience of these new products with you lovelies and I won't feel so bad.

See It's purely a ploy to appease myself. I am silly :)

Anyway, without further a do.. The first thing out the box which I have been using over the weekend. 'THE OLIVE BRANCH' - SHOWER GEL

What I Think:

It's a weird one this. Mainly because it doesn't seem like a Lush product to me. For those who haven't used Lush before, when I think of their products I imagine all natural, highly sweetly scented, brightly coloured bits and bobs that you'd be proud to put on show in your bathroom. I realise that is a complete idealised point of view and it may feel like I'm dismissing this product because it doesn't fit into the aboive criteria but I'm not honest, I was just taken aback a little by the lack of distinctive scent. That said, it does resemeble olive oil so based on the all natural thing perhaps that's a good thing. It certainly made me skin feel soft if a little slippery and I have continued to use it over the weekend so maybe I am getting used to it but to be honest I much prefer candy coloured, sickly sweet smelling goodness :)

I have very little time right now due to being ill :( and uni deciding to give us four assignments and once and wanting a dissertation proposal in less than a month.

1.What can't you leave the house without?
My purse including cards, my phone and something to write on/with (notebook and pen).

2. Favourite makeup brand.
This changes. I love Max Factor foundation and am an avid user of Barry M dazzle dusts but the other stuff I swap and change about. Ps: If anyone can recomend a good SMUDGY black eyeliner let me know.

3. Favourite flower?
I like wold flowers and the more natural looking ones lol. Think daffodils and tulips.

4. Favourite clothing store?
Topshop, ASOS, Primark.

5. Favourite perfume?
Chanel Chance and Hugo Boss Red

6. Heels or flats?
Six months ago I would have said flats easily but I have discovered the amazeness that are heels and now I love them, couldn't wear them all day every day though.

7.Do you make good grades?
I'm on track.

8. Favourite colours?
Pink and silver but I also have a creeping obsession with green.

9. Do you drink energy drinks?
No, I actually don't like them not even with booze :)

10. Do you drink juice?
Yeh, I would take an orange juice over a coke.

I haven't been swimming since I lost all my weight but I used to be a bit of a water baby.

Sometimes.

Lush's Vanishing Cream (this is an expensive habit).

I finally got all my bits and bobs needed to get my camera back in action so hopefully I will be able to get back to blogging on a more regular basis very shortly.

Not today though, I feel so ill right now and didn't manage to sleep at all until 7.30am this morning when my boyfriend drove from his house to mine to keep me company :)

I did manage to go out tonight for a little while with my housemate, we ate pizza and i saw Alice in Wonderland for the 2nd time. I was going to post what I wore but honestly, i look dreadful.

Today has just been one of those days where I just could not get into the swing of things and a result wandered through the day rather zombified and little down.

I've been in the house about half hour and amongst my emails is my usual round up from etsy that I recieve every couple of days or so, complete with a list of featured sellers and things to peruse.

I don't usually, peruse that is. I don't normally have time and unless something catches my eye in the split second I open the email I close it and it's gone forever.

However today I spotted this..

Isn't he wonderful? He is intricate and beautiful and on clicking through the seller in question I found out that he is indeed vintage and my oh my I love him so.

That's not all though, I carried on clicking and must admit that I did indeed peruse with my cup of coffee in hand through every single item on sale courtesy of Shihtzuwest's Vintage Goodies and found a few other bits and pieces to share with you.

My name is not Ariella, in fact I know no-one with that name but I would still wear this Victorian shell pin with pride. At only 8usd I think it is a bargain and ever so pretty, I picture it holding together a silk neck scarf.

These topaz rhinestone earrings scream out to me. They remind me of leaf crunching in the park on a cool Autumn day and the colours would offset a little black dress perfectly.

These are not jewels haha but instead some little wooden clogs that still have their original paint and are completely wearable (theyre a womens size 8). They are far too big for me but I would still love to dance all over my tiled kitchen floor in them, think of the noise I would make.

In truth Shihtzuwest is a lovely collection of all things vintage from all across the decades and world and if like me you have a bit of imagination and would like to love a sparkly jewel or a trinket that someone else has loved before you then go look...

I go back to university in less than two weeks and last year (my first year) I worked an evening job which meant I had very little time left for socialising which was great for my marks but not so good for the fun factor.

This year, I have decided to get involved in some of the many events and nights out that happen at my student union bar starting with a "Masquerade Ball" on the 5th October.

I have plenty of dresses which isn't a problem but I am going to need a mask, afterall, there is no such thing as a masquerade ball without a mask eh?!

So, I've started the search now because if I need to order online I'm going to need time for delivery etc.

I feel I am a typical girl when it comes to wanting to get married and have dreamt of what would make up my big day since I was small. I came very close to realising this dream a few years ago but that's a story for another day I guess.
Right now in the present, although in a long term relationship there are no iminent plans for engagement but I still have a wedding dream in my head, even if it has changed a bit over time and every now and then I search about for wedding related things so that if the day came when boyface was to get down on one knee, well ast least I'd be prepared huh? And as I said the other day, inspiration is everywhere.

I first found DollyCouture months ago when searching for vintage inspired wedding gowns and I wasn't disappointed.

it... Dolly can make it!!" written on the home page it's no wonder that in my opinion the dresses available are some of the best I have ever seen.

Dolly Thicke, the mastermind behind these beautiful creations was nice enough to take a few moments out of her busy schedule to answer some of my questions so I thought it was only fair to share her answers with you.

Why Did You Start Dolly Couture?

In my search for my own wedding dress, I decided I'd like to have something similar to what my mother had in 1961. It was a short dress, but it was magnificent with yards of rolling organza, beaded lace and a portrait collar. It was a fabulous ballgown that just happened to be cocktail lengthand it must have been extraordinary on the dance floor. I wasn't sure I wanted her exact dress but I was so excited to have read that short wedding dresses were making a comeback. Unfortunately, everything I found looked very, very simple. Whenever I asked in a boutique if they had anything short but with crinolines and a full skirt, nobody was able to accomodate. When I asked a girl in one botique if they had anything she said "No, but I wish we did people are always asking." Well this planted a seed and after creating cocktail length gowns for myself for BOTH my rehearsal dinner and wedding reception, I decided to make a business of it. That was nearly four years ago. Today brides all over the world have worn my creations. :)

Had you done any other design or dress making before?

I used to ice skate as a young adult and loved creating costumes. I also used to draw lots of pictures and play with a toy sewing machine growing up. I studied art during my undergrad at UCLA and that is where my passion for design really got sparked. Mostly though, it was just a great idea for a business. It turned out to be so much fun.

How do you come up with new ideas? What are your inspirations?

Sometimes I close my eyes at night and an idea for a dress will just come to me. It's wonderful...though lately I'm asleep before I hit the pillow as we've been so busy! I try to listen to what the brides want by keeping in touch through facebook, email etc and find the best ways to make that part of our collection. Lately, I seem to be getting asked about feathers...hmmm. Any ostriches had better clear the way if they see me coming. Ha ha

Do you admire any fashion designers/icons?

Yes! I love Valentino! I'm also an admirer of Coco Chanel and Yves St. Laurent, although I'm not sure I've been able to take much influence from them with this line. I've refered many brides to Rene Caovilla for her gorgeous crystal worked stillettos, I've had a number of brides fully prepared to spend more on their shoes than my dresses!
Right now I'm laughing at how high-end my tastes are. While I admire the topmost designers, I do a great deal of shopping for my personal wardrobe on theAnimalRescueSite.com

Describe your personal style.Do you have a favourite item clothing?

I do, it's a black wiggle dress from VeronicaVarlow.com as I love to take things back a little farther and dress for the 1940's now and then,my husband loves it when I dress like a pinup gal! If you catch me around the house, however, you are likely to find me in a simple cotton dress I might have picked up from theAnimalRescueSite.com but I do love formal occassions where I can wear Dolly Couture.
People ask me all the time if I design my own wardrobe, but unfortunately the brides and family keep me a little too busy.

Which of your Dolly Couture Dresses is your favourite?

This changes every day, or at least every time I get to see new bride photos. I just got back pictures from a bride who wore the "Monte Carlo", decorated with thousands of pink organza flower-Wonderful! I'm a big fan of girls who chose to go with the standard "Manhattan" and dress it up with colored pettis and make it thier own. I love the "Edmonton" because it was based on my mother's wedding dress and the "Milan" and the "Beverlywood" are so popular, they are favorites too. Oh, and I really love the San Marino or any custom dress where we use the beaded eggshell lace over champagne fabric, it looks so authentic vintage...but still brand new.

This question isn't fair...it's like asking a teacher who her favorite student is! Except the teacher might have a favorite. I don't .

The Edmonton and The Beverley Wood

When did you realise that Dolly Couture was becoming a popular choice with new brides and how did it make you feel?

Hmm...Well, one day I logged on to facebook and it told me I had a thousand friends! That made me feel pretty cool, ha ha. I love keeping in touch with our customers this way.

Being featured on Whose Wedding is it Anyway on the Style Network was a huge rush and now alongside Vera Wang on StyleMePretty.com, we are so happy for our years of steady growth.

Longevity is our real goal. We would hate to be a fad that comes and goes,this style belongs to the late 50s and early 60's and to the unique bride with a yen for the greatest fashion of all time.

My team and I are just so honored to be able to be a part of even one bride's special day. Not too long ago Nickie, Desiree and I were brides ourselves and we know and understand how special each dress needs to be. Dolly Couture always holds to our firm policy of NO unhappy brides.
Since so much of what we do is on the computer we get to be home most of the time wtih our toddler aged children. Brides usually love to hear that they are supporting work from home mommies.

All of your dresses are fully customisable, how do you cope with this andHave you ever been scared that what a bride wanted maybe wouldn't work or look right?

Yes, I've been worried about something not working and I'm honest with brides about the opinion I have and why. Usually brides take my advice, I've featured every bride who has submitted pictures in my real brides albums on my facebook and I've never really seen anything I really didn't like.
Sometimes a bride will get excited about too many ideas and try to incorporate them in to one garment,this is usually a sign the bride isn't ready to order. Either that or she'll wind up with three wedding dresses and a bridal line like I did!
In the end, the bride always gets what she wants. We'll put ruffles with pleats and a ruched bodice if that's what the bride wants, granted we might have to leave our label out of that one. It hasn't happened yet! Our customers usually have wonderful taste. They found us, didn't they? ha ha

Can you talk us through the process of ordering a dress from you?
Yes, at this moment we are contracting everything, even custom orders through ebay. TV Ruins The Mind And Fashion?!

Hi all,

I wanted to share with you an inncident that happened during my shift at work yesterday that at first I found annoying and yet slightly amusing and now, at home a day later, I find a bit concerning.

I shall explain...

Vivienne Westwood is one of my all time favourite designers and believe it or not, was way before I even discovered fashion. Being a bit of a punk child I have always known who she was due to her connections with Malcolm Mclaren and The Sex Pistols and admired the fact that she was different and wasn't scared to be so.

Anyway, years later I discover clothes and tapped into both her own personal style as well as the clothing she makes and since then she, for me is the pinical of what I believe fashion to be.

Everyone who knows me is aware of my Vivienne obsession and work is no different. They berate me for wanting to spend hundereds of pounds on shoes etc and think my much coveted pirate boots are horrid :(

For those of you that don't know, I work in a bakery and a big part of my job is serving the many customers that come in daily. Yesterday one such customer, a young girl, was wearing a pair of electric blue Vivienne Westwood orb ear rings that I stood and admired from afar.
This didn't go unnoticed by my boss as I'd forgotten which till I was using in the process and so had to apologise using the fact that I was loving this girl's earrings as my excuse.
At this, the girl's mum who obviously has far too much money and thought I was way too down the fashion/financial ladder to be even looking at a pair of Vivienne's earrings tutted at me and turned to her daughter to say "she mustv'e been watching that David on Big Brother"!!!!

I was shocked to say the least and wanted to run upstairs to the staff room and come back with my Vivienne Westwood purse in effort to prove a point that I wasn't as fickle to only like a designer because of a minor celebrity.

David, a contestant on this years Big Brother is obviously a massive Vivienne Westwood fan and was often seen in the house sporting her clothes, I even felt for him on his birthday when he recieved a birthday card from the woman herself making him burst into floods of happy tears.

But now, I'm concerned for two reasons.

1. Does everyone feel like this? If I walk down the street wearing Vivienne Westwood from now on, are people going to automatically presume that I am jumping on the fashion band wagon? I mean, Burberry used to be high end fashion at one point didn't it and it became common and chav like almost overnight. Is nothing sacred?

2. Why do I care? I'm not fashion elitist. I have my own style and probably get things wrong like everybody from time to time. I have no right to say who can or can't wear something regardless of their reason for doing it and I really wouldn't want to come across that that's how I am feeling either. At the end of the day, inspiration is everywhere and the beauty of fashion is that everyone can take their own little piece of it.

Anyway, rant over. I just hope it made it makes sense, what I am trying to say I mean.

Eyes Wide Open, Mouth Closed Shut

Things are settling for me a bit today and I feel brighter.
Being back in my boy's arms might have something to do with it plus the fact that I am now off work until Tuesday.

Still no major access to cash as my cards etc have been stopped. I do still have the credit card (as apposed to debit card) but I really hate using it as it doesn't feel like my money.

Hopefully, things will be on a more even keel within the next week or so and I go treat myself to a few of the thousand things I seem to be noticing at the moment.

In the meantime, blogwise I have loads to write about and will get on it with full enthusiam tomorrow, being back at my boys also means access to my camera which I left there so hopefully I'll get some outfit posts up too.

I will end today with this... A dress from Miss Selfridge that I think I could quite possibly kill for right now!!! Like seriously. So need my cards back :(

Today I found out that someone, somewhere has been using my debit card to buy whatever they fancy to the tune of about £800.

Add to this the fact that I have a flu bug I just can't shift and my boyfriend being a long, long way away and unsuprisingly I'm not feeling to dapper today.

This made me smile though, it's adorable and I think I reallllllly need one to cheer me up.

Another etsy find and available here this pretty little wren would perk me up no end. I'd sit him on my windowsill amongst the wild flowers, I think he would be happy there!!

Still feeling a little glum today but luckilly I have no work so I got up extra early and decided to put together a list of things that I would really like to have all for my very own.

Some are achievable (at least in a few days/weeks).
Some are absolute dreams.
All are wonderful.

The Suki ankle boot from Kurt Geiger is something I've lusted after for what now seems like a lifetime. I picture them hardening up the floatiest of dresses for the last few weeks of the UK summer and with leggngs or skinnies and layered goodness throughout autumn and winter. At £320 though I can't afford as yet :(. However I have seem River Island doing something similar.

Speaking of layers, I love this structured cardigan from Miss Selfridge although it's not available in my size on the net. I will be paying my local store a visit on Thursday to see if I can part with the £20 it will cost me to own this beauty providing they stock the size needed for little old me.

Who doesn't want a delicate cloud to adorn their neck whilst the sun is shining outside? I know I do, and I found this beautiful piece by freeforged on etsy. Structured from silver wire and prettied up with amethyst and pearls it's the perfect image of stormy weather and the craftsmenship is top grade. I prefer to buy jewellery this way, there's something special about someone's love going in to something you get to keep. My trusty currency converter informs me that just over £30 is not a lot to pay for something so intricate.

I have never used boohoo.com before so if anyone has, maybe you can educate me on things like quality and sizing and I've decided that this skirt with quench my need for both purple and glitter brilliantly and thinking ahead (as always) I picture this skirt at my christmas parties. Bargain at £18 too , no?

Providing the shopping fairies are on my side I will be purchasing this, the Dress Side Story from Modcloth in time for my friend's wedding in October. Only problem is, i'ts available in more than one colour so I'm a little stumped. I think the green is my favourite but I have red hair?! Will that be too much I wonder? Hmmmmmm.

Iconic Thursday

Todays icon of choice is Andy Warhol.
Probably most famous for his paintings of popular products (think Campbells soup) and celebrites such as Elvis and Marilyn Monroe, Warhol took the new style of pop art, mixed it with cartoons and made a style all of his own. If that doesn't deserve Iconic status on its own then I don't know what does!

But that's not all. He took photographs, used the amiga computer to produce digital art,dabbled in sculpture, carried a tape recorder to record EVERYTHING around him to use in his creative works and built mini time capsules of his life. He even created his own "artistic bubble", his studio aptly called the factory. Andy Warhol lived and breathed art and was always doing something, creating something or being part of something.

He also coined the expression "15 minutes of fame" although ironically his fame lasted a lot longer than this spanning 3 decades before his death in 1987.

What really interests me about Andy Warhol was his ability to take something and make it his own. He had his fingers in so many pies that it really is hard to pin point what for me sticks out the most. He wasn't afraid of anything and believed that life was art and art was life, he saw beauty and intrigue in everything and I find this most prominent in his films of which he made over 60. These include 'Sleep' which monitors poet John Giorno sleeping for 6 hours and my personal favourite Chelsea Girls, a stop start artsy flick which is actually 2 films put together showing 2 story lines simutaniously.

The music industry wasn't untouchable for Warhol either. He managed the band Velvet Underground and produced their first album,he had many close friends in the music biz, designed many album covers and inspired many musicians with several songs penned in his honour.

I could honestly sit here all day and talk about Warhol's other acheivements. He published books, founded a magazine, created cable TV shows, starred in regular TV shows, wrote and starred in theatre productions and generally created art wherever he happened to be.

He truly was an inspiration, an icon.

View his life in pictures HERE and I'll move on to fashion because guess what? He was invloved in that too by writing books on the subject, making the most amazing screen printed dresses, painting pictures of shoes and he modelled for a short while.

This quote from the man himself makes me smile- "I'd rather buy a dress and put it up on the wall, than put up a painting, wouldn't you?"

His influence is still all over the fasion world so it's not that difficult to snap up a little piece of Warhold for yourself should you be inclined to do so.

According to Vogue the statement necklace is sticking around through the Autumn/Winter season which to me is very good news indeed.

All That Glitters...

Over the weekend I tuned in to the Vfestival coverage on TV and the first thing that struck me was how nicely everyone was turned out!

I'm not even talking about the performers here, just your average festival goers but the thing is, judging by the crowd shots I got to see they were anything but average looking.

Perfectly grromed hair, precise make up and your bestest clothes is certainly not what I associate with a weekend at a festival. Not that there's anything wrong with looking good of course, I was just astounded and baffled as to how these girls managed it.

By about half way through the first day at a festival I am usually covered in mud (or someones pint of lager), my hair is windswept (to say the very least) and my eyeliner is running down my cheeks.
I must be missing a trick!!

Now about the title of this post and indeed the performers at V, specifically what they were wearing. Sequins were everywhere on the stages with everyone from Lady GaGa to Katie from The Tings Tings sporting them.

Sparkly sequins is a bold trend and one I have partaken in myself but I always saw the sequined part of whatever ensemble I was wearing as the statement piece and let it speak for yourself, for the most part this unwritten rule was adhered to but sadly not in all cases...

Let's look at the evidence.

That polka dot number donned by Pixie Lot is amazingly made entirely from sequins. The detail on it is beyond lovely and I must say Pixie looked stunningly boho in it teamed with black wellingtons, a multitude of bangles and flowery headband. By the way, if anyone manages to track down this dress on their shopping travels, please let me know (my wardrobe is aching for it)!

Katie Perry wears the burlesque 1950's thing with style, although no where near as well as someone like Dita Von Teese but netherless it is a look that I am used to seeing in her in now which meant less of a shock for me when she turned up on stage wearing the above. Not that there is anything wrong with her outfit, some things just suit people don't they, I mean I couldn't imagine Lily Allen in this.
I love the sequined bra like top by the way and whilst I didn't hate the pvcesque high waisted shorts, I didn't love them either. You can't see in this picture but Katy wore flat ballet pumps on her feet which to me was a shame, I would've loved to see some killer heels with this outfit but hey, comfort comes first eh? Having said that, she spent most of her set holding in her upper half so maybe the top wasn't the comfiest thing in the world either.

I had to show two photos of Alesha Dixon because Vfestival has two festival sites and the artists play both over the space of the weekend. Alesha wore matching dresses which I thought was rather special and after much umming and ahhing I think I prefer the cream version, she looks like a futuristic cupcake (in a good way) although sequined knickers in picture one definately gets bonus points purely for the sake of this post.

More costume than wearing fashion but Lady GaGa deserves a mention for that mask alone (although strictly not sequins). Like an ultra glam robotic ballerina she rose from behind black screens and my jaw literally dropped. This was full on shineathon although and although the front panel looks like a piece of cardboard that has been stuck on at the last second I can forgive her for she is Lady Ga Ga!!

I'm not so forgiving with Katie from the Tings Tings though who looked like she'd fell into a trend cupboard, rolled about for a bit and fell out laughing. Either that or she was cold and wanted to layer - badly! Seriously here we have sequins, neon, leotards, cycling shorts and leggings and it really is hard to know which part of her outfit to focus on. I chose to focus on that sequin embelished jacket which was ever so pretty, unfortunatley I can't find a photo to show off the detail.

First up today I feel the need to shout about this cutie that I literally found by accident whilst searching for something else.

Not only is twist racer back adorable but the play on the French theme is really quite clever, stlylistically speaking. I mean... French word play - check, French flag colours - double check.

C'est tres chic and available h ere for around 10 english pounds.

Sticking with the French theme and my idea of a link, the newest offerings from French Connection made me whoop with glee.
Having previously never owned anything by this label until very recently the website is all new to me but after buying a very comfy, well made diamond of a puffball dress from ebay I bookmarked French Connection along with my other favourite stores.

Iconic Thursday

I have decided to start a weekly post dedicated to things, people and places that are either classically iconic or at the very least iconic/important to me.

I shall write this every Thursday and beause I'm feeling rather lame and unorigianal today it shall be called ICONIC THURSDAY!

So who or what to start with I hear you ask?

An absoloute heroine of mine, that's who!

Debbie Harry.

For those of you who don't know, Debbie Harry is probably most famous for being the lead vocalist in the new wave band Blondie although she was in other bands including The Slitlettos before this.

However, it was with Blondie in the mid 70's that she was thrust in the limelight and her style and sassiness was put on clear view for everyone to ogle at. Debbie has been a massive influence to me. Of course, her look is absolutely spell binding and I have tried a thousand times to recreate my favourites of her outfits but Debbie also touched me musically and probably most important to me, showed me the meaning of girl power way before any spice girl ever did.

Debbie was and is ballsy, outspoken and certainly no wall flower.

As already mentioned and shown in the above video evidence - ha! her style was striking and although I'm not niave enough to think that perhaps some of her was styled by someone else I do have faith that the essence of who she is from an image point of view is down to her and her alone.

What I like about her style is the rawness she's managed to keep through the decades. Her music career saw her dabble with punk, reggae, rap, disco and pop and although she moved with the times her ever eccetric style was always distinctly Debbie.

Her two tone hair was an accident as she was unable to reach the back of her head when bleaching but she kept it and became famous for it. I've seen many a picture of her over the years wearing ensembles from work men's reflective safety gear to ultra risque leotards but each time she looks smouldering and like a true lady she has managed to grow older gracefully without loosing her pizazz.

Because of my size (I'm only 5ft 2ins and very slim) I often browse the kiddie sections. I find I have to by jeans and trousers from here becuase it's the only way I can get them to fit my waist AND leg length but sometimes I come across other bits of coolness.

The picture really doesn't do any justice but this Minne Mouse jumper is fully knitted including the picture on the front and is ultra long for that slouchy, "just got out of bed" look. Complete with Disney tag, its offical and available at Tammy Girl in B.H.S for £22.

Unfortunately, due to just finishing work I had very little money on me but I did pick up this pretty elasticated headband complete with ribbon rose for a bargainous 50p! Woo!

Hello There!

After wandering through the great world of web for a few months now and reading with interest the thousands of blogs I found there, I decided to take a bite of the cherry so to speak to start my very own!

It's all new to me and to be honest, a little bit daunting. Therefore, it may take me a while to tweak the prettiness of it all, to find my niche and entice some lovelies to read along with me.
